MU in the Diocese of Armidale is part of the worldwide Mothers’ Union, an international, Christian organisation that seeks to support families worldwide.
In 83 countries, Mothers’ Union members share the vision to bring about a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. We actively pursue this goal through prayer, programs, policy work and community relationships.
The PURPOSE of Mothers’ Union is to be especially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.
The AIM is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.
Its FIVE OBJECTS are:
Sharing Christ’s love by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life.
The world we live in is changing rapidly. Families now come in a variety of structures, shapes and sizes. Our children move to the beat of technology, while their parents work hard to provide for their growing demands, and keep up with the latest way of communicating and accessing the world, along with a host of wanted and unwanted information. Just as people, families and the social environment change, so too ministry and mission to those around us must change.
The traditional family unit is under threat, as the definition of marriage comes into question on the national and international stage. “Till death do us part” could be translated today for many as “Till it becomes too difficult and there is a better option”. There are many pressures on the longevity and health of marriages and family relationships, even within Christian homes. It is vital that we uphold Christ’s teaching on marriage and family, and that we do everything possible to encourage, nurture and strengthen these relationships.
MU exists in the Diocese of Armidale as an organisation specifically concerned with promoting and encouraging Christian marriage/ family life and ideals.
